<description>CAUSE Urges Asian Americans to Apply for the New Citizens Redistricting Commissions
Center for Asian American United for Self-Empowerment: Empower Yourself

Emergency Meeting Alert
Citizens Redistricting Commission Strategy &amp; Information Systems
CAUSE Urges Asian Americans to Apply for the New Citizens Redistricting Commissions

The political future of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in California will be importantly shaped by the redrawing of legislative districts following the 2010 Census. The commissioners will be responsible for drawing the districts for the State Assembly, Senate and Board of Equalization. Currently less than 4% of applicants are AAPIs. We need to push for more diversity int he applicants. Unless significant numbers of AAPIs apply, our communities could be left without and representation. Please join us to learn more about the redistricting commission process. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to influence our political future.

Thursday, January 28th, 2010
7:00pm
Grapevine Arbor
324 S. Mission Drive, San Gabriel
(next to the San Gabriel Mission – not to be confused with Mission Road which runs east-west)

Confirmed Speakers:
State Senator Carol Liu
Assemblymember Mike Eng
&amp; other local elected officials

RSVP at INFO@CAUSEUSA.ORG or 626.356.9838
